Radiator
Heat exchanger that releases the coolant's heat into the air.
How it works
Hot coolant flows through the radiator's thin fins, which are cooled by airflow (and by the fan when stationary). Clogged fins (bugs, mud) or bent ones reduce cooling efficiency; an impact or corrosion can puncture the radiator, causing a leak and a drop in coolant level.
Maintenance tips
- Gently clean the fins using low pressure.
- Check the cap (pressure rating), which maintains system pressure.
