Water pump
Circulates the coolant through the engine and radiator.
How it works
Driven by the engine, the water pump's impeller pushes coolant through the circuit. A worn pump seal leaks through a small telltale weep hole underneath the engine; a failed impeller stops circulation entirely and causes overheating even with a correct coolant level. Replacing it is a fairly technical job.
Maintenance tips
- Keep an eye on the telltale weep hole under the pump housing.
- Replace the coolant at the recommended intervals.
