How it works
The rim carries the tire; connected to the hub (via spokes, or cast as a single piece), it spins on the wheel bearings. A warped rim or loose spokes create vibration and throw off balancing. An impact (a pothole) can distort the rim and cause air loss.
Maintenance tips
- Have the wheel balanced after fitting a tire.
- Check spoke tension (on spoked wheels).
