Alternator / stator
Produces the current that recharges the battery and powers the bike while riding.
How it works
Driven by the engine, the alternator (stator plus magnet rotor) generates alternating current. Paired with the regulator/rectifier, it recharges the battery and powers the electrical load. A shorted stator or burnt-out windings cause the charge to drop: dim headlights, a battery that drains even while riding.
Maintenance tips
- Measure charging voltage with the engine running (~14 V).
- Check the charging system's connectors, which often run hot.
